Code P0755: Shift Solenoid B

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0755 (Shift Solenoid B) sets when the TCM detects an open circuit, out-of-range current, or a stuck-on/stuck-off performance fault while driving one of the transmission's shift solenoids, which route hydraulic pressure to select the current gear. Every solenoid letter shares the same diagnosis path: causes are a failed solenoid coil, sludge/debris jamming the solenoid's spool, or damaged control wiring at the internal valve-body connector.

Probability-Ranked Repair Procedures (4 Ranked Fixes)

Rank #1

Check transmission fluid level and filter condition

Easy DIY
Parts Estimate: $20.0–$80.0 USD Labor Estimate: 0.7 Shop Hours
  1. 1. Check fluid level and condition
  2. 2. Change fluid and filter, since debris is the most common cause of a sticking shift solenoid
  3. 3. Clear the code and drive-cycle through all gears
  4. 4. Monitor for the code returning
Rank #2

Command the named shift solenoid with a scan-tool actuator test

Moderate DIY
Parts Estimate: $10.0–$25.0 USD Labor Estimate: 0.5 Shop Hours
  1. 1. Connect a scan tool with bi-directional solenoid control
  2. 2. Command the named shift solenoid on and off
  3. 3. Confirm line pressure or shift-quality PID responds to the command
  4. 4. No response isolates the fault to that solenoid or its valve-body connector before condemning the whole pack
Rank #3

Test and replace the named shift solenoid

Moderate DIY
Parts Estimate: $35.0–$150.0 USD Labor Estimate: 1.3 Shop Hours
  1. 1. Test the named solenoid's resistance against spec
  2. 2. Command it individually with a scan tool and listen/feel for a click and gear response
  3. 3. Replace the solenoid, typically as part of the valve-body solenoid pack
  4. 4. Clear the code and verify normal shifting
Required Replacement Parts: 🔧 Shift solenoid (or solenoid pack)
Rank #4

Repair shift solenoid wiring at the valve body connector

Professional Required
Parts Estimate: $20.0–$80.0 USD Labor Estimate: 1.5 Shop Hours
  1. 1. Remove the valve body pan for access to the internal connector
  2. 2. Inspect for corrosion or a broken pin at the solenoid connector
  3. 3. Repair or replace the connector/harness section
  4. 4. Refill fluid, clear the code, and verify commanded shifts
Required Replacement Parts: 🔧 Valve body internal connector/harness
